Tempo's Vintage Day looks set to entertain a crowd when it features a range of attractions this weekend, traditionally on the first Saturday in June.

The Vintage Day is run under the auspices of the Tempo Development Association which was formed in 1984.

Now a well-established annual event on the Northern Ireland Vintage calendar, the events kick off at midday in the village meadow, a five-acre site.

"It's a lovely situation with a river running through the meadow and Tempo Bridge. It's one of the nicest spots in Fermanagh," said a member of the development association.

As usual, there will be displays of vintage and classic cars, vintage lorries, motorcycles, tractors, stationary engines, autojumble and a car boot sale.

The famous Eagle Owls will be on show as usual as well as displays of horse ploughing and threshing.

The annual donkey derby will take place around 3pm. There will be plenty to do and see with a display of Irish dancing, and a visit by Geraldo's famous puppet show.

For those feeling energetic, a bouncy castle will be there on the day.

There will be a cookery demonstration of how to make home-made bread, and for those who are still peckish, burgers and teas will also be available.

The parade through the village of all the vintage vehicles will be at 5pm.

The value of hosting such a day is shown in the many instances where friendships are rekindled.

"It gets the people of the locality and various villages together. People who haven't seen each other for perhaps 20 or 30 years. They meet up and have a chat,' added the association member.
