You would be forgiven for thinking that the world leaders were preparing to descend on the town of Enniskillen again such is the hive of activity of painters, joiners and other tradespeople working on shop fronts.

87 premises have taken up the offer which totals £310,000, the money has been invested in Enniskillen town centre by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and the Department for Communities(DfC).

A spokesperson for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said: “A major regeneration scheme is progressing to revitalise a series of busy streets in Enniskillen. A total investment of £310,000 supported by the Department for Communities (DfC) and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is being made in the Enniskillen Revitalisation Shop Front Scheme, alongside a 'Bags for Life' initiative to promote shopping in the town centre.

“The scheme will benefit 87 local businesses/premises which have taken up the offer of funding and are progressing their shop front improvements. The investment in the town centre follows on from the Enniskillen Public Realm scheme and aims to further stimulate business activity by enhancing the local environment.”

Streets where works are taking place include: Church Street, High Street, Townhall Street, Eden Street, Water Street, Market Street, Middleton Street, the Diamond, East Bridge Street, East Bridge Place, Paget Square, Darling Street, Belmore Street, Wesley Street, Queen Elizabeth Road and Anne Street.”
