Lisnaskea Historical Society hosted this year’s Olde Tyme Market Day last Friday morning, June 9 in the Corn Market Yard, Lisnaskea Main Street, by kind permission of the Fairs and Markets, Lisnaskea.

It was morning full of entertainment and things for people to see and enjoy from arts and crafts such as wool spinning, which was a popular old time craft on the day.

There were many other displays and demonstrations of old-world skills, too, including a wide range of heritage activities will be on display, including crochet crafts, beekeeping, woodworking, and more.

Pupils from the three primary schools in Lisnaskea also brought their wares to sell and take the money back for school funds.

People also dressed up in old-time clothes to create an atmosphere of the markets of the past, and also entertain with music and dance during the event, which ran from 10am to noon.

Vicky Herbert, secretary of the Lisnaskea Historical Society was delighted with the event: “It was absolutely amazing. And the children always do so well. But this year, they really turned up trumps.”

She said there were plenty of comments of how well the children had dressed up for the occasion and danced and sang: “It was lovely to see them all getting on so well together,” added Vicky who thanked the Fair and Markets Committee for use of the Corn Market Yard.
