Open air theatre season continues this week as Heartbreak Productions travels back to Castle Island, but this time with something for all Shakespeare lover, called ‘MacHamLear’.

On Sunday, July 9, at 7pm, you are invited to take part in a unique experiment that will answer which play is the best that The Bard has to offer?

You can help decide by being part of an exciting, new theatre competition, ‘Will of the People’.

In Round One, Macbeth, Hamlet, and King Lear will be pitted against each other as actors make their case for why their tragedy should be performed that evening, to win a place in the next round of the competition.

Heartbreak Productions invites you to grab a chair/blanket, weather-appropriate gear and a few nibbles, and prepare to be tickled pink as the three iconic plays are performed with passion, pep, and punch.

The production is suitable for those aged nine and older, and allow additional time for the boat crossing for all shows on Castle Island.

The Ardhowen Theatre has two exciting Minecraft workshops to keep the worldwide hit game’s young fans entertained this summer, with both taking place on Monday, July 17.

‘Minecraft Epic Builds: Theme Parks’ is aimed at seven to 11-year-olds, at 10.30am. Children will work in teams to see who can build the most epic theme park of them all.

Then at 2pm, there will be a session aimed at 11- to 13-year-olds; ‘Minecraft: Redstone Revolution’.

Participants will unleash the power of Redstone circuits in their Minecraft world, as they get wired up and invent amazing things, from lighting systems, and smart circuits to powered machines.

Through playing and learning about Minecraft Redstone bricks, participants will gain an understanding of concepts in electronics, programming, and design.

Both sessions will be hosted by Official Minecraft Mentors from BlockClub, and all equipment will be supplied.

Participants may bring their own Xbox controller if they wish, but it’s not essential; a 20 per cent discount applies to siblings.
