Two new charity trustees, Maeve Corrigan and Monica Corrigan, have been welcomed to the Aisling Centre Board of Directors. The new appointments bring with them a wealth of skills and experience in good governance and financial management.

Equally important is the interest both Maeve and Monica have in their local community and the promotion of good mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Solicitor Maeve is a partner in her family firm, Maguire and Corrigan Solicitors, based in Enniskillen, while Monica is a chartered accountant and currently works as an internal audit manager in the banking industry.

Both women have long enjoyed volunteering. Maeve is a Director for Community Advice Fermanagh and has volunteered with Fermanagh Friends of the Cancer Centre.

She also volunteered with the Law Centre NI when she lived in Belfast and, of course, many people will know Maeve from the St. Michael’s Church Choir.

Speaking about her appointment, Maeve spoke of her experiences as a volunteer with the Law Centre and the challenges people faced.

She said: “I am pleased to become involved in the work of the Aisling Centre – it is a very worthwhile charity which does great work in our community, offering invaluable support to many people.”

She went on to talk about how this need for support for good mental health services has been highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Monica has a strong interest in both mental and physical wellbeing and is aware of the mental health benefits of physical exercise.

She enjoys running and yoga as part of her own self-care, and she also actively participates in wellbeing opportunities available through her work.

She also has a keen interest in community development and has volunteered with Barretstown, ChildVision and the Irish Cancer Society when she worked in Dublin.

Since moving back home, she has joined Enniskillen Running Club and helped raised funds for local charities, and is looking forward to serving on the Board of Aisling Centre.

She said: “I am aware the Aisling Centre offers excellent services in Fermanagh and its surrounds and I would like to be able to support this work as a member of the Board.

“I look forward to increasing my awareness and understanding of mental health needs and contributing to the support of this.”

Chairperson Alison Annan expressed her delight with the new appointments. “It is wonderful to have two such able and enthusiastic young women join our team.

“It’s brilliant to see young people moving back to Fermanagh and getting involved in the local community. Both Monica and Maeve will be a great asset to Aisling Centre, and we are all looking forward to working with them,” she said.
