Blaney Yoga Centre, on the outskirts of Enniskillen, is to host international Indian artist Soham Raha, an Indian Folk artist as he presents an interactive music event through the medium of Yoga Nada (union music) on Sunday, July 9 from 2pm to 4pm.

Describing Soham’s body of work as “essentially an inward journey of self-exploration with sound and image as its conduits”, a spokesperson for the event said: “It attempts to understand life beyond the experience of the senses within the human body, delving deeper into it in search of the very essence of spiritual experience.

“[The] ‘Baul’ and ‘Sufi’ philosophy imbue this search with powerful meaning in his quest for this quintessence of existence,” said the spokesperson, adding that Soham’s ongoing practice of music with mystic and poetic symbolism evokes a “transcendental reality of life” which continues to actively influence his artistic impulses.

Believing that an inherent cosmic sound – the Anāhata Nād – is the life-breath of every living entity, the spokesperson commented that Soham attempts to “uplift that sublime spirituality to a crescendo until it becomes the only everlasting truth, empowering and cleansing our social sensibilities”.

“He looks towards indigenous culture as he believes it preserves popular consciousness most truthfully.

“Lived and imagined experiences, music and belief come alive in his fantastical visuals that precariously balance strangeness and reality, creating counter-narratives that resist the conventional paradigm of representing reality.”

Tickets are available directly from Blaney yoga centre in Enniskillen, with the event supported financially by the Glens Centre in Manorhamilton.

The Glens Centre will also host a special concert featuring Soham with Aoife Hammond at Manorhamilton Castle on Saturday, July 8 at 8pm. Tickets are available from the Glens Centre website.
