A husband and wife teaching partnership who chalked up 64 years between them at Lisnaskea High School, have retired at the end of the summer term.

Bob Jardine, who has been vice principal since 1982, but who started there when it opened in 1959, and his wife Angela, head of the English department since 1963, made their farewells when the schools closed last week for the summer holidays.

The Jardines had become part of the life of the school throughout its existence but both of them agree that life will be much easier now that they have retired from a busy teaching profession.

At a presentation ceremony, Bob and Angela were presented with a garden seat and cheque on behalf of the school and Bob's colleagues presented him with a set of six white wine glasses and a whiskey decanter and crystal pen set.

Angela received a Royal Doulton tea service and book token from her colleagues on the teaching staff.
