There will be plenty of entertainment for all ages as the annual Belcoo Sports and Festival kicks off tomorrow, Friday, August 11. Over six days from August 11-16, it promises to be a thrilling family event with a packed schedule of events leading up to the main day on Tuesday, August 15.

The ever popular Sports Day will start with the parade at 2pm which will include fancy dress, floats, vintage cars and tractors. All are welcome to come and join in with children encouraged to join in the kids’ tractor run.

For those with a competitive streak, Sports Day will feature Athletics, organised by the Oisin McGrath Foundation, as well as a GAA Freekick Challenge, while there will also be swing boats, bouncy castles, a pet farm, a dog show and Scarecrow competition, plus a whole lot more.

Music will be played throughout the day with Sean Magee bringing a great day of craic to a close in the marquee from 9pm.

Friday, August 11 begins with a kids’ movie night at 7pm before music lovers are encouraged to head to the marquee for a special reunion of The Shannon Aces with special guests Sean Corrigan and Francie Smith, to be followed by DJ Conall.

Party Bees Fun and Games starts off the Saturday at 11.30am in the marquee before an afternoon tea and cake sale, being hosted at 1pm.

Children will have a chance to hook a prize at the fishing competition at the bridge at 1pm.

That evening there will be a Tractor Run and BBQ at 7pm with tractors meeting at the community centre and travelling via Mullaghdun, Gardrum Road and Holywell.

A BBQ and live music with Luke Burns and friends will follow in the cottage meadow from 7.30 – everyone is welcome!

Saturday night at 9pm is the festival highlight, ‘Bingo Loco’. A night of fun, music, games and great prizes is guaranteed, including a European break for two.

Sunday, August 13 will see a children’s treasure hunt around the Cottage Meadow at noon, followed by bingo in the marquee at 3pm with a massive guaranteed jackpot of £1,000. This will be followed by a Car Treasure Hunt at 6pm.

Monday’s events start at 6.30pm in the LCC Centre with an U-12 Fifa Gaming competition, followed by a fun table quiz in the marquee at 9pm.

The final day of the festival, Wednesday, August 16, concludes with the duck race at the bridge (see local businesses for a chance to win).

There will also be an exhibition throughout the weekend in the Oratory/St. Sinnell’s and Corralea Activity Centre, Belcoo will be offering a 20 per cent discount on all activities/experiences during the festival dates.
