The sea of brightly coloured umbrellas that lined the streets of Enniskillen last Friday night only complemented the shining paintwork of the various makes and models of vintage vehicles that paraded through the town.

Undeterred by the heavy rain, spectators in raincoats, with umbrellas aloft, gathered in crowds to watch the Erne Vintage Car Club’s Annual Charity Vintage Parade.

“We had an excellent turn out and the weather wasn’t in our favour at all,” said Noel Grainger, chairman of Erne Vintage Car Club, commenting that there was a “brilliant” crowd in the town centre.

Around 300 vehicles took part in the event, including vintage and classic cars, from Minis to Rolls-Royces, Beetles to Wolesleys along with varying models of tractors and vans, accompanied by music from Ballyreagh Silver Band.

This year’s event was in aid of the Aisling Centre, which is dedicated to the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

So far, more than £4,800 has been raised for the charity, with some money still to come in. We had great fun and everybody was quite happy.

“I’d like to thank everybody for turning out,” Noel said.
