After a culmination of eight weeks of rehearsals, it was ‘sync or swim’ time last Saturday night, September 2, for the 12 acts taking part in the Borderline Players’ fundraising Lip Sync Challenge.

As they took to the stage at the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran, the hard work each act had put into their performance was evident as they entertained the capacity audience, evoking fits of laughter throughout.

However, when the judges and audience votes were counted, it was the men from Kesh who’d cleverly called themselves ‘The Kesh Wannabees’ that were crowned the winners, with their hilarious lip-syncing and dancing to a medley of Spice Girls songs.

Siobhan O’Brien, Chairperson of Borderline Players, started the proceedings by welcoming the audience and thanking the acts for their commitment over the summer months to attending two rehearsals each week, where they were put through their paces by Dancing with the Stars Ireland choreographer and professional dancer, Laura Nolan.

Siobhan explained the purpose of the event – to help raise much-needed funds to secure new rehearsal and storage space for the group, which has been entertaining audiences since September, 2000.

The organising committee extend their thanks to everyone who supported the event, both on the night and in the weeks leading up to the event.

Siobhan added that donations towards the event were continuing to come in from across the globe, and she thanked the 50+ local business sponsors and 500+ donors for their overwhelming support.

The event was staged in collaboration with GrantED Productions and Events54, and the proceeds will set Borderline Players on course to acquire a permanent home that will provide much needed facilities for the future development of the talented performing arts group.
