Festive spirit was alive and well in Ballinamallard last Friday night (December 1) as the community came together for the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Locals firstly gathered in the Mallard Community Hub where they enjoyed complimentary tea, coffee and mince pies before heading over to the Commons where they were met by music from Ballinamallard Silver Band and Christmassy characters including Buddy the Elf and Olaf the Snowman.
Following the countdown, the lights were officially switched on by Kenny Fisher, the District Governor of Rotary Ireland. As the village lit up, the band started into a hearty rendition of Jingle Bells to welcome Santa Claus.
This year, Santa arrived on the back of a trailer led by a little red Massey Ferguson 35 tractor which had been specially decorated with fairy lights for the occasion. There were plenty of smiles as he warmly greeted all the children who had gathered to see him.
The festivities continued at the Archdale Hall where the annual Christmas Fair took place.
