At this most wonderful time of the year, The Ely Centre were delighted to host their annual “Carols with Ely” services in Enniskillen and Markethill.

On Thursday 14th The Ely Centre Western Service was held in the historical St Macartin’s Cathedral in Enniskillen. For all those who attended this uplifting afternoon service they were treated to the fantastic musical talents of the students of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, conducted by their Head of Department Mrs Ann Bloomfield.

Soloists Finn Maguire, April McGuigan, Victoria Moore and Gareth McDowell delighted the congregation with their renditions of Christmas Favorites. Local Group trustees, staff and members all participated with the Bible Lessons which concluded in a Christmas Blessing from the Very Rev Dean Kenneth Hall.

Ely Chairperson Mr. Roy Crawford closing remarks at the Cathedral resonated with many in attendance noting that 2023 like so many years that have went before us has been a difficult year. He said: "Many of our lives have been changed forever by events that have happened throughout the year, or for many we continue to struggle with the impact of the events inflicted upon us during our Troubled past. However , as we look to the future with hope we all have a part to play in supporting each other and this Christmas time provides a wonderful opportunity to reach out and help those in need."

Speaking after the Service, Ely Director Mr Lee McDowell stated “Due to the success and positive feedback we receive from our members and the local community who turn out to support these services “Carols with Ely” is now a regular fixture in our annual program of events. Started during lockdown as a way to support group members during the Christmas period these events have just grown to now being one of the highlights of our year."
