THE CASE of a man accused of cultivating cannabis in Teemore has been transferred to Dungannon Crown Court.

Ernestas Gaucys (41) of Timber Mills, Dublin appeared via video-link from Maghaberry Prison at Enniskillen Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Gaucys is facing a charge of cultivating cannabis plants at Birch Grove, Teemore on December 17, and dishonestly using electricity on the same date.

Gaucys, who was assisted by a Lithuanian translator, spoke only to confirm he understood the charges before him.

District Judge Alanna McSorely agreed with a prosecutor that there was a “prima facie” case to answer.

A prosecutor advised that the case was being transferred to Dungannon Crown Court.

Judge McSorely refused to grant bail and said she was concerned about him “absconding” and committing further offences.

The case continues at Dungannon Crown Court on February 13.
