THE case of a Dromore priest who is facing charges of historical sexual offences has been moved to the Crown Court.

Canon Patrick McEntee (69), of Esker Road, Dromore, appeared at Enniskillen Magistrate's Court on Monday, February 12.

Standing in the dock, McEntee indicated that he wasn't objecting to the holding of a Preliminary Enquiry (PE).

A prosecutor read the charges before him, which include indecently assaulting a male between 1980 and 1981, and indecently assaulting another male between 1988 and 1989.

McEntee indicated that he did not wish to say anything in answer to the charges.

His legal representative, Blaine Nugent, said that there were no "contrary submissions" to be made at this time.

Deputy District Judge Archer ordered that McEntee be returned to Dungannon Crown Court for trial on March 5.

The judge remanded McEntee on continuing bail of £500.

A native of Monaghan town, Fr. McEntee is well-known in Fermanagh, where he was heavily involved in St. Michael’s College, Enniskillen.
