When a young person from a village is appointed to the role of Head Girl, Head Boy or their deputies in their post-primary school, it can create a great source of pride, particularly for their primary school.

Lisbellaw Primary School has plenty to be proud of with three former students taking on the role of Head Girls in their respective schools, and one former pupil serving as Deputy Head Boy.

Kaela Johnston is currently serving as Head Girl of Devenish College, Enniskillen; Darcey Crawford as Head Girl of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School; and Rebecca Copeland as Head Girl of Fivemiletown College.

Amongst the Deputies, Andrew Beacom is serving as Deputy Head Boy of Devenish College, Enniskillen.

The students left the school in 2017, with Kaela, Rebecca and Andrew being pupils from P1, with Darcey joining the school in P5.

Principal Jason Kilfedder said: "This is a remarkable achievement and one that will probably not be repeated.

“It's a testament to the grounding and high-quality education they received at Lisbellaw Primary School, inspiring them to become the best they can be, holding fast to our school's vision of ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

"Teachers commented on how hard-working, dedicated, involved and enthusiastic they were in relation to all aspects of school life.

“One of our own teachers – Mrs. Foy – is a former Head Girl of Devenish College."

Detailing the visit by the students to their old school, Mr. Kilfedder – who guided them around the school – said: "The students commented on the opportunities they were given and the supportive staff that allowed them to enjoy their primary education.

“When asked about a favourite teacher, they couldn't choose!

"One particular was the end-of-year Y7 trip to Magilligan and the North Coast."

The students have ambitious plans to for the future. Kaela hopes to be a social worker, Rebecca plans to pursue a job in marketing, Darcey plans to continue her studies in languages, and Andrew plans to study History.

All were proud to say that friendships and fond memories of their time at Lisbellaw Primary School still remain.
