AN ENNISKILLEN woman who was caught drink driving on the Killadeas Road has been put off the road for three years.

Zana Sadovska (55) of Killynure Crescent, Enniskillen, was sentenced at Enniskillen Magistrate's Court on Monday, March 4.

Sadovska pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving, while a separate charge of being in-charge of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol was withdrawn.

A prosecutor told the court how on Sunday, December 10 on the Killadeas Road, personnel from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) observed a blue Volkswagen Golf being "driven erratically".

Fearing that the driver was experiencing medical difficulty, ambulance staff flagged down the vehicle.

When speaking with Sadovska, staff suspected that she was under the influence of alcohol.

Police were contacted, and officers conducted preliminary breath test which returned a reading of 121 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Sadovska's solicitor said she had "difficulty with alcohol", but emphasised that she was attending appointments with her GP and a community addition team to address these issues.

The solicitor added that the incident has had an impact on Sadovska's family.

Her 15-year-old son has had to walk to school as his mother hasn't been able to drive him, the solicitor said, while she has had to scale back her caring commitments for her 88-year-old mother.

District judge, Alana McSorley, said that this was the second time Sadovska had been before the court for drink driving in the last ten years.

Judge McSorley imposed a driving disqualification of three years and ordered that she pay a fine of £150, and £15 offender levy.

The judge added that this period of disqualification can to be reduced by nine months pending the successful completion of a drink driving course.
