The Border village of Belleek is promising a fun-filled St. Patrick's Day next weekend as with a range of activities taking place.

A parade will kick off festivities in the village at 1pm followed by a guaranteed fun day for all the family.

A small committee of volunteers supported by Belleek Development & Heritage Group, are hoping that all local community organisations, Townlands, schools and businesses will come forward to showcase themselves to locals and visitors alike.

There are monetary prizes for the most creative float and for the funniest float with Belleek pottery sponsoring perpetual trophies as well as a monetary prize for the best window display in the village.

Some events in the lead-up to St. Patrick's Day will include a traditional music session in Mulleek Community Centre on March 14 at 8pm, where all musicians, singers and listeners are welcome.

The Fiddlestone Pub is the place to be on Friday, March 15 where a a quiz fundraiser with profits going to the Air Ambulance NI will take place starting at 8pm, a table of four is priced at £20.

On Saturday, March 16, Belleek pottery are hosting their Spring Warehouse Sale from 10am - 3pm.

Afterwards why not call into The Lemon Tree Coffee House for a cuppa or a bite to eat where CCE members will be playing a few tunes and finally on Saturday evening at 7pm Mass will take place at St Patrick's Church, Belleek.

Detailing plans for St. Patrick’s Day, a spokesperson for Belleek Development & Heritage Group said: “The parade starts at 1pm from the GAA centre and will travel down the main street - it will be followed by live entertainment on the Gig Rig until approx.3pm.

“The Wark Hall are having a jumble sale with some great bargains and serving refreshments when you have a browse from 11am – 2pm. Many venues are doing food all day with music in the Fiddlestone from 5pm onwards.

“All car parks in the town are free to use.

“For those with energy left after a busy day, head the five miles up the road to Garrison for the annual St Patrick’s day Fíor Ceili with music by St Joseph’s Ceili Band from 8:30pm in St Mary’s Hall.

“We are hoping that friends and families will come to visit us in the picturesque village of Belleek on the banks of the river Erne.

All in all, a real family day out to celebrate the feast of our national Saint is planned and will have something for everyone. Do come along and enjoy!”

Other events include a leprechaun hunt organised by Belleek Pottery has organised and an art competition organised by Centra.
