The general manager of one of Fermanagh's leading restaurants has been named as one of Northern Ireland's '30 Under 30'.
Matthew McCabe, the General Manager of the Firehouse Bar and Grill was named as part of the list published by the Belfast Telegraph earlier this month.
Mr. McCabe, who is from Enniskillen, was recognised as one of the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation’s Rising Stars last year and spoke about his experience of hospitality when he received the award.
The Rising Stars initiative aims to recognise and celebrate young, emerging talent in the industry.
A graduate of Applied Mathematics, Mr. McCabe had not set out to forge a career in hospitality.
"I have been in this industry since I was 19, and while it was never initially my plan to stay, life throws you curveballs” said the 26-year-old.
“I did look at other roles, but I realised I was really enjoying working with people, in this industry and in Enniskillen especially.
"It is a great career and I am really glad that I have the opportunity to make it here, in my home town."
He takes great pride in creating an atmosphere of joy coupled with great food and drinks.
"The sense of pride I feel when someone comes up, thanks you and says they have had the best time, is hard to beat", he said.
Mr. McCabe told the Belfast Telegraph that he believes in "not setting anything in stone" and spoke of his plans to grow within the hospitality industry.
