The 47th Fermanagh Fishing Classic will go ahead from April 29 to May 3 as 179 people will participate in the five-day event.

That’s a 30 per cent increase in the number of people compared to 2023 with 50 competitors taking part for the first time as anglers from across Northern Ireland as well as the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, and Germany make the trip to the Erne county.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with DAERA Inland Fisheries, will host the event along with local angling representative Tony Green, Erne Anglers, and supported by Tackle Guru.

Looking ahead to the competition, councillor Thomas O’Reilly, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said: “The Classic Fishing Festival, now in its 47th year, is one of the Council’s longest-established events in Fermanagh.

"We are delighted to welcome our local and visiting anglers to the area and know they will get a warm welcome.

"This event is hugely important to the district in terms of direct spend and we thank all our anglers for contributing to the local economy.”

Enniskillen BID have played a big part in its return to Enniskillen by sorting evening entertainment during the week of the festival in four local spots as Pat’s Bar, Charlie’s Bar, Crowe’s Nest, and TJ Ryans provide competitor offers over the four evenings.
