One of Irish drama’s most iconic characters is set to grace the stage of the Ardhowen Theatre next week as a local drama group stages a production of The Field.

Enniskillen Theatre Company will perform John B. Keane’s classic play of land, legacy, and the fierce emotions tied to ownership and tradition in rural Ireland from April 16–19.

The story centres around a small plot of land that has been transformed through years of hard labour, only to be put up for auction by its legal owner. When an outsider arrives with big plans and deep pockets, long-held tensions boil to the surface, leading to dramatic and tragic consequences.

Seasoned Enniskillen actor Michael Boyle leads the talented cast as The Bull. The Bird O’Donnell will be played by Donegal actor and ETC regular Conor Friery.

Their son Leamy Flanagan, will be played by Ben Cameron in his first appearance with ETC, following successful performances with Fermanagh Musical Theatre.

Aly Finlay will play Widow Maggie Butler, reprising the role she first performed with Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society (EADS).

Murphy after a successful period of behind-the-scenes work as a director with EADS.
