The £70 million Fermanagh Lakeland Forum has reached a “substantial” milestone, with structural progress being made on the new leisure and wellbeing centre in Enniskillen.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, welcomed the latest milestone.

“It is fantastic to see such substantial progress being made on this transformative redevelopment project with the scale of construction activity now visible on site.

“The new leisure and wellbeing centre will be a landmark facility for our District, providing first-class opportunities for leisure, health and wellbeing for generations to come.”

Construction of the concrete base for the new swimming pools, concrete walls, structural supports and stairwell structures is progressing across the site.

Below-slab insulation and specialist gas and water membranes have also been installed as part of the project’s requirements for Passivhaus certification, an energy-efficiency standard for buildings.

Supported by £20 million in UK Government funding, the redevelopment will deliver a new leisure, health and wellbeing hub on the banks of the River Erne.

The centre will feature an eight-lane swimming pool, learner pool and splash pad, alongside a gym and fitness suite, community wellbeing spaces, a sensory room, soft play facilities and a café.

Outdoor facilities will include a destination play park, pump track, 3G pitch, active waterfront and connected walking and cycling trails.
