Ballinamallard United have confirmed the signing of Shane McCabe, the midfielder becoming manager Whitey Anderson's second recruit since the end of the season.

Speculation had been rife in recent weeks that McCabe would be returning to Ferney Park having been a member of the Ballinamallard side that won the Irish League Second Division in the 2002/03 season and Anderson feels his new acquisition will be a big addition to his squad for next season.

“I am delighted to bring Shane McCabe back to Ballinamallard," said Anderson. "He has consistently been one of the best midfielders in the Irish League over the last decade. He is a winner and his ability, leadership and experience is going to be a big asset both on and off the pitch. Having spoken to Shane it is obvious that he still has the burning desire to do well and he will be expecting the same of those around him." 33 year old McCabe won a league title with Glentoran in 2008/09 and also won the Irish Cup last season with Glenavon.

Anderson has already signed attacker Robbie Hume from Institute while he is also keen on bringing in a number of other players as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the club's fourth campaign in the Premiership.
