This Saturday, October 6, the runways of St. Angelo airport will once again come alive with two wheel racing.

The event hosted by the Enniskillen & District Motorcycle Club, after their very successful road race back in June, will take in round 9 of the Ulster Superbike Championship.

Top riders in classes ranging from 125s to 1000cc Superbikes will compete in a 18 race programme, and many of our local competitions will be in action.

In the Junior Cup, Brookeborough rider Adam McClintock will be in attendance, while Jamie Lyons will hope to continue his great form this season as he chases down championship leader Cameron Dawson, while in the Young Guns Challenge, club member Liam Baird will be hoping to get himself on to the podium in the championship.

In the 125/Moto3 class, Florencecourt man Wayne Kennedy will once again take to two wheels after a lengthy absence, while two new Club members in the shape of Andrew and Nathan Cairns, who currently lie second and third in the championship behind leader Paul Robinson, will be trying to get on to the top step.

The Lightweight Supersport class is always fiercely contended, and with a full grid in place, Paul Gartland, Liam Trainor, Grant Kennedy, Slane Maguire and Enda Trearty will do all they can to prevent current Champion Gary McCoy take another race win. Trearty and Maguire will also contest the Pre-injection class along with Nathan Britton, the ever consistent Derek O’Donnell, who currently lies second in the championship, and the in form Andrew Brady from Rosslea, who has won six of the last seven races in this class.

Trearty will also be in the Production twin class along with another two local riders, David McCrea and Wayne Bussell, while in the Supertwins, Gartland, the current 'Ace of St. Angelo' title holder, and Derrylin’s Peter O’Dwyer, will take to the circuit.

Aaron Armstrong will be be trying to take in honours in the Supersport class, while in the Supersport Cup, his father Alan, Dylan Leonard, Tomas Lavin, Adrian Heraty, and Damian Lynch will all be hoping to take a local win. Armstrong, Gartland and Brady will be the local challenge in the Superbike class, as they take on the might of championship winner Gerard Kingham and Alistair Kirk.

As well as the Classic races, there will also be parade laps by the bikes of yesteryear, which always add a lot of interest to proceedings.

This spectacle put on by the club once a year at St. Angelo, has saw spectator numbers grow over the past few years, and anyone wishing to attend are advised to get there early. Gates on the Saturday morning will open to the public at 8am, and with adult admission £10, under 18s: £5, and under 12s free with an adult, it certainly is a cheap day out for the family to witness, and is the only event of its kind in the area.
