Aughadrumsee get their Ulster journey underway on Saturday when they travel to the Athletic Grounds in Armagh to face the challenge of Keady Michael Dwyers in the quarter final of Ulster Club Junior Championship.

For the Magpies this a whole new experience but one they are keen to grab with both hands.

The victory over Coa sees the club enter the Ulster fray for the first time since 1990 when they entered the Intermediate championship. Since then there has been a fallow period in the success of the club.

Aughdarumsee captain, Eugene Kearns, has led by example so far. A commanding figure at centre back, he has been a huge driving force in this team.

On Saturday, if Eugene and his team are to progress everybody will have to be at their very best again in what is unchartered territory for this team.

"It's new territory for us boys," he explained. "Not too many of us would have experienced Ulster. It's been a long time coming to get a bit of success in Fermanagh so this is a bonus but at the same time we will knuckle down and give it a rattle on Saturday."

After the highs of winning the Junior championship, the 27-year-old says that the club has settled back down and got back into training to give themselves every chance of progressing. And the unknown of coming up against a team outside of Fermanagh adds an extra bit of intrigue.

"The last two weeks it has settled back in with the same sort of preparation for the Junior final itself. We will treat the game with a similar approach and similar mentality. We just have to keep our own house in check.

"I suppose it is good going into a game not really knowing the players or who you are coming up against so we will concentrate on our own game and not so much on them."

Magpies manager Colm Monahan, has had experience playing in Ulster with his own club Newtownbutler and Eugene explained how he has told his team that they should not feel inferior in the competition.

"He said there is nothing to fear. At the end of the day we are all playing at that level for a reason. There is no reason to think that anybody is any better than you in any way so we will go out and give it our best and we will not be far away."

For a club that has only snatched rare glimpses of success the championship win brought a huge amount of emotion for all generations in the club and with that buzz still going strong the players are keen to keep the journey going.

"We won our championship and that was our main goal at the start of the year but we are not going into Ulster to make up the numbers. We are going in there with every chance and every hope of progressing into the semi final on Saturday evening."
