Ballinamallard Utd 4 Portadown 2

Ballinamallard United closed the gap to three points at the top of the Bluefin Sport Championship with a 4-2 win over leaders Portadown at Ferney Park this evening.

Harry McConkey's side had led 2-0 only to concede on the stroke of half time before the Ports then equalised just after the hour mark.

However, the Ducks responded instantly through Chris Kelly before top scorer Ryan Campbell wrapped up the points with his side's fourth.

After an even opening to the game, Ballinamallard took the lead in stunning style in the 31st minute. Roiss Taheny popped the ball into the path of Sean McEvoy who edged forward before crashing home a wonderful strike to the top corner.

And it got even better for the Ducks as they doubled their advantage ten minutes later. McEvoy was again in the thick of things as he was upended in the box and Richard Clarke dispatched the subsequent penalty to make it 2-0.

However, Portadown were back in it on the stroke of half time as Paul Finnegan headed home from a George Tipton corner to leave it 2-1 at the interval.

The Ports were then back on level terms in the 62nd minute as the Mallards again failed to deal with a Tipton corner with Aaron Duke this time heading home to make it 2-2.

There was though an instant response from Ballinamallard as they swept down the other end and Kelly tucked home from Campbell's cross from the right.

And they put the game in the 69th minute as Campbell rifled home from an acute angle after McEvoy had lifted the ball over the top.
