The Fermanagh Competitions Control Committee (CCC) are awaiting clarification, from both a national and provincial level, before publishing details on a fixture schedule.

However, the aim is to provide adult league and championship as well as underage football along with underage hurling.

The Fermanagh CCC are currently seeking the response from clubs as to their willingness to enter teams in the various competitions.

In a statement, the Fermanagh CCC said:

“As you will be aware, the GAA at a national level is planning a return to club competitions from 31st July.

“The Fermanagh Competitions Control Committee has adopted a patient approach to the scheduling of competitions within the county, at both adult and underage level, in order to have the fullest possible detail on the availability of a window for games. Rather than rushing to publish details on a fixture schedule that may change, we are currently awaiting clarification, from both a national and provincial level, with regards to the arrangements for competitions involving county teams and this will help inform us on the available slots for club fixtures.

“We expect to know much more by the end of this month, including whether we are moving to the next phase along with details on inter-county competitions. Whether the remaining two National Football League games are played first or whether the association moves straight to the Provincial Championships remains to be seen and this decision, along with the timing of those games, will have an impact on how we plan adult competitions in Fermanagh.

“We obviously want to allow adequate preparation time for our county teams (both football and hurling) but we also want to provide a meaningful block of games for our club players, with the county players involved for the maximum number possible.

“At this stage, it would be our hope to arrange the following competitions in some format:

Adult Football

Senior, Intermediate & Junior Football Championships - as normal

Senior Football League - a condensed format to be played before and after club championship with county players available as much as possible.

Erne Cup - a condensed format

Underage Football

We are currently exploring the feasibility of organising shortened competitions at U11.5, U13, U15 and U17 ages.

Underage Hurling

The Hurling Development Committee is currently consulting with clubs about possible competitions.

“It is our intention that the draw for the 2020 Championship would take place in the near future and further details on this will be circulated in due course.

“At this stage, we are seeking information from clubs on their willingness to enter teams (either standalone teams, independent teams or sanctioning players to/from other clubs) in the above competitions in order to inform us as we prepare competition structures for consideration by the CCC, the County Management Committee and club delegates at the County Committee.

“Can I ask all club secretaries to respond to me before 3pm on Monday 22nd June 2020 with an indication as to whether they intend to participate in each of the above competitions at both adult and underage level? Clubs should be aware that it would be the intention of Fermanagh GAA that no club will be penalised in any way for opting out of a competition provided sufficient notice is provided and that the rules around promotion/relegation from league and championships will be assessed once the number of participating clubs has been confirmed.”
