Over the last ten minutes I think that Laois wanted it more. The league for us was over and we made a few sloppy mistakes, forcing the ball in when we didn't have to force it in. We were kicking high ball into Mossy when it wasn't on and we got caught in possession, in the first half we were able to move it early and move it wide but with the extra man the lads maybe thought they could take that extra touch and carry the ball into the tackle and that's what Laois wanted as they are a big, strong, physical team When we stayed out of the contact we were far the better team but as the game went on we had players taking the ball into contact and taking a solo too many.

We have been crying all year that we have been missing chances but the league table doesn't lie. We have made too many mistakes and been caught out and punished for it.

The players are going to have to lift themselves. For the first 60 or 65 minutes I thought we were very good. We played a good mature performance and some of the young players played really well and Tomás showed the sharpness of old so there is a lot of positives and training has been very good this last couple of weeks when we have had all the boys in.

We are going to have to look at ourselves too and ask is our training up to the spec that we can get the boys in more high pressured situations. Once it comes to championship in Brewster I know that a lot of the Fermanagh boys will lift themselves for it. We know ourselves that we will have to brush ourselves down and get on with it. This is gone now and we just move on from it.

Championship

It is going to be more pragmatic. It is two weeks away and two weeks is long in the Covid world. Every team could be losing players with close contacts or whatever. But you are going to look forward to the championship. There might not be the same atmosphere and I think he supporters will miss it more but we know now that we have two weeks and one game to work towards.

It has been a huge learning for them. Josh maybe ran out of a wee bit of steam. It has probably been an eye opener for him having started in Clare and then heavy training on the Tuesday. Luke and Sean McNally, it is only their second game and the boys have probably been thrown in at the deep end but you learn more about the players when they are thrown in. Look, for 60 minutes I thought they were very good and sometimes this happens when you do go with a younger team, you make mistakes and you just have to learn from them.
