THIS is a small glimpse of the sports people and the teams that have made the headlines in The Impartial Reporter on this week down through the years.
In 2001, Lisnaskea Rovers secured the Mulhern Cup for the first time in their history with a 2-0 victory over Tummery Athletic.
Kevin Curran was the hero for Rovers as he struck twice in the second half to seal the win at a cold and wet Ferney Park.
In GAA, Devenish edged a tight derby league encounter against Derrygonnelly to take the points in 2006.
Derrygonnelly started the brighter with Kevin Cassidy bagging an early goal, but Devenish produced a strong second half showing with a Ciaran Mulrone goal helping them to go on and clinch a 1-12 to 1-11 win.
In swimming, Enniskillen Lakelanders produced some fine performances at the Swim Ulster Summer Qualifying Gala in Bangor in 2016 to return home with a hatful of medals.
In 1991, Brendan Flanagan won the Bush Cup at Blacklion Golf Club.
Meanwhile, schools from across the county were represented at the Primary Schools’s Cross-Country Championship at the Bawnacre in 2016.
