Kinawley’s run to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship semi-final has in no small part been down to Róisín O’Reilly.

The midfielder has popped up with important scores throughout the run, including in the Fermanagh Champioship final, the Ulster semi-final against Trillick and most recently in the Ulster final when she socred the winning point against Steelstown.

With St. Sylvester’s of Dublin the next challenge facing Kinawley, O’Reilly is hoping she can continue to contribute to the winning run the Borus find themselves on.

“Maybe I find myself in the right place at the right time,” said O’Reilly, “but I want to keep improving every game and try and contribute more in every match.”

Against the Leinster champions, O’Reilly and the rest of the Kinawley side will have to be operating at the highest level against a side that has won most of their games comfortably.

“We obviously know they are very good team and they have some very strong individual players who are big names in ladies football.

“But we are not going down fearing them and our goal is to go down and win the game on Sunday.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game against a quality side but if we put in a performance on the day we can come away with a result,” she commented.

For the first time in a long time, Kinalwey will go in as underdogs, not that that bothers O’Reilly that much: “

No-one is going to think a Fermanagh team is going beat a Dublin side in ladies football so the pressure is on them.

“They are going in with a favourites tag, they will probably be the team expected to win the whole thing outright so the pressure is on them and it will suit us the best going down with the underdogs tag.”

O’Reilly and midfield partner Aine McGovern will likely face Dublin players, Nicole Owens and Niamh McEvoy, and it is a challenge she is lookng forward to.

“Playing against two Dublin players, it will be a big task but you want to play against the best.

“We never have had the chance to play against Dublin at inter county level so it’s a good test or us now come Sunday to play against girls who play at senior level.”

It will be one of a number of key battles on the day but while Kinawley know the level of threat St. Sylvester’s possess, O’Reilly knows there is plenty of talent in the Kinawley squad to cause the Dublin side problems as well.

“We have have brilliant players on our team and they will be well fit to match anyone,” said O’Reilly.

“And I have full confidence in the squad.

“We are not focussing too much on their game, obviously we have looked at them but we will be focussing on ourselves and getting our own gameplan right.”

And if Kinawley get their gameplan right on the day, and All-Ireland Final awaits but for now the full focus is on Sunday: “We are fully focussed on this game.

“We are looking forward to it and things are going well in training and there is a good buzz about the place.

“It’s not every day your club is in an All-Ireland semi-final so it would be unbelievable if we got the win on Sunday and hopefully the run continues,” added O’Reilly.
