Omagh Hospitals 1 NFC Kesh 5

For the second time in the league, NFC Kesh fired five goals past Omagh Hospitals which puts them just five points behind Tummery Athletic and consolidated their third place in the table.

The midday kick-off at Youth Sport Omagh could not have started any better for the visitors who found the back of the net after just two minutes.

A mix up by the Hospitals defence in their own penalty box was capitalised on by Mark Jones and he made it 1-0.

Kesh were the better side and they had their second goal of the game after 36 minutes after some excellent work by Ben McLaren set Ryan Campbell on his way and he made no mistake.

And it was 3-0 just before the half time whistle when Jones turned provider for Jordan Cadden who fired to the net.

Hospitals, who are firmly in a relegation battle, had a glimmer of hope when they pulled a goal back after 10 minutes of the second half from Ronan O’Neill.

It was to remain 3-1 up until 10 minutes to go as neither side could find a way through.

But again Jones was to the fore for Kesh as he worked well with Ryan Beatty for the latter to score.

Kesh’s fifth goal was somewhat fortuitous.

The Hospital players thought the ball was running harmlessly out of play but instead it hit the corner flagged and stayed in.

Lee Walker jumped on the opportunity and he placed the ball past the Hospitals’ keeper to make it 5-1.

For Kesh manager, Scott Robinson, he felt his side dominated throughout.

“It was very comfortable. We started really well. They work hard, we knew that from the first game.

“The goal they scored was very good but up until that Stefan had no save to make.

“We didn’t look in trouble but being up 3-0 at half time it is maybe hard to get going and it took us 10 minutes to get going and we could have scored more to be honest.”

Robinson is also pleased with how his squad are performing with the likes of McLaren and Jones catching the eye on Saturday as they look ahead to Irvinestown this weekend and the Mulhern in a fortnight.

“We are getting boys games and making sure they are in the right shape before the Mulhern,” said Robinson who will be looking for his side to reverse the earlier league defeat to Irvinestown this weekend: “League form doesn’t matter, it’s a derby and we will be looking a massive response from our boys.”
