There was some top class performances by local athletes at last week’s E District Schools Championships at the Antrim Forum.
St. Michael’s Jack O’Connor enjoyed a brilliant day as he returned home with a trio of gold medals. O’Connor took gold in the Minor Boys 100m and Long Jump while he also helped St. Michael’s clinch the Minor Boys relay title.
Indeed, St. Michael’s also took replay gold in the Mini and Junior Boys races while there was also relay success for Mount Lourdes as they claimed the.Mini Girls title.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School pupil Annabelle Morrison was another who was in fine form as she secured double gold in the Intermediate Girls section, taking first place in both the 1500m and the 3000m while another ERGS pupil Darragh Love won gold in the Senior Boys 400m and 400m Hurdles. Also in the Senior Boys there was a couple of strong runs from St. Michael’s Oisin Cassidy as he clinched gold in the 800m and 1500m races.
Another to produce a terrific run on the day was Mount Lourdes pupil Grace Connolly who took gold in the Girls Mini 800m while Kellie McAnespy, also of Mount Lourdes, won the Junior Girls 800m.
Others to return home with gold included Victor Wojthowski (St. Michael’s) in the Mini Boys 100m, Rhys Bryant (Fivemiletown College) in the Minor Boys High Jump, Conor Casey (St. Kevin’s Lisnaskea) in the Junior Boys 100m, Sean Corry (St. Michael’s) in the Junior Boys 800m, Daithi Mohan (St. Michael’s) in the Junior Boys 1500m, Lewis Crozier (Devenish College) in the Junior Boys High Jump,Callum McInnes (St. Michael’s) in the Junior Boys Triple Jump and Reece Carroll (Fivemiletown College) in the Junior Boys Discus.In the Intermediate Boys there was golds for Frank Buchanan (St. Michael’s) and ERGS duo Eamon Green and Patrick Williams.
In the Junior Girls, Devenish College pupil Kelly Burford won gold in the Discus.
