St. Pat's, Donagh 1-08 Enniskillen Gaels 1-21

Enniskillen Gaels made it three wins in a row with a comfortable victory over St. Pat’s in Donagh on Friday night.

The Gaels bossed things from the off and the game was more or less over as a contest by the 20th minute as the away side built up a 1-09 to 0-00 advantage.

St. Pat’s did close the gap back to seven points midway through the second half but Enniskillen regained the initiative to eventually run out 13 point victors.

The visitors were quickly into the stride as they dominated matters in the early stages to move into a 0-05 to 0-00 lead by the ninth minute.

Conor Love, Paddy Reihill, John Reihill and Conor Watson all registered scores as the Gaels took control although in a rare attack at the other end Brian McDermott pulled a good save out of Cian Newman in the Enniskillen goal.

A goal though did arrive in the tenth minute as Enniskillen further cemented their superiority, Ethan Beresford finishing from close range to make it 1-05 to no score.

And that lead was increased as Eoin Beacom, Watson and Paddy Reihill tagged on points to put the away side into a 1-09 to 0-00 lead .

St. Pat’s eventually opened their account in the 19th minute with a fine effort from Cameron McBrien while Enniskillen then had Conor Love black carded after a trip on Pearse McDermott and the home side did see more of the ball through to the break with McBrien slotting over two frees and Brian McDermott clipping over from play.

However, with John Reihill firing over two points for Enniskillen, the away side went in at the break with a 1-11 to 0-04 lead.

Richard O’Callaghan and Love added to that advantage with points on the resumption but St. Pat’s hit back with points from Paul Og O’Reilly and a McBrien free while Brian McDermott fired to the net after a good move from the Donagh outfit to make it 1-13 to 1-06.

Enniskillen though were never in danger and with Brandon Horan, Beacom and O’Callaghan giving them control in the middle third they went on to account for eight of the last ten points of the contest.

Eimhin Curran and Conor McDermott landed the last two St. Pat’s points but with O’Callaghan, Beresford, John Reihill, Horan, Beacom and Johnny Cassidy knocking over for Enniskillen it was the away side who eased to the points.

With a tough test against Ederney coming up, Gaels manager Simon Bradley said: “Pleased with the performance. A good response after a tight game against Derrylin.

“We know that this Friday is going to be another difficult game but we are happy with the progress so far.”

Looking at his side’s high score he added: “It probably flatters us a wee bit to be honest.

“Donagh had a few chances and didn’t take them in the first half and once we got on top the heads dropped a wee bit as you’d expect but it could have been a different story if they had taken a couple of goal chances in the first half.

“It will be a different sort of challenge. Ederney are one of the best running teams in the county and they have a potent front six you don’t know where the scores are going to come from thy can come from anywhere.”

On Friday, Donagh play Devenish who are still searching for their first win..
