There was a good turnout in warm evening weather for the Lady of the Lake 10K and 5K during the recent highly successful return of the popular festival.

Over a hundred athletes donned their running shoes to take part.

Conor Maguire from Omagh Triathlon club won the 10K race in a time of 35 minutes and 51 seconds with Aidan Molloy and Fergus McGirr in second and third respectively.

Maggie O’Hara was the first woman home in a time of 42 minutes and 52 seconds ahead of Joanne Campbell and Anne Fitzpatrick. James Murphy took the over 40s accolade finishing fifth overall.

In the 5K race, Patrick Williams edged out Jamie McDonnell in a closely run affair, the winner coming home in a time of 16 minutes and 29 seconds.

Shane McManus completed the podium while William McCausland was the first U16 runner home in a time of 17 minutes and 47 seconds.

Joanne McNabb was the first female home, clocking a time of 20 minutes and five seconds with Elaine Kerwin second and Denise Brown third.

All in all, this was a great event and the organisers were delighted with the response, thanking the Bawnacre Centre for accommodating the runners and Michelle and Rory Ralph, Happy Cones for providing much needed bottles of water in the warm conditions.
