Roslea 2-08 Enniskillen 3-12

Enniskillen secured the points away to Roslea on Friday night, the Gaels finishing up seven point victors over the Shamrocks.

However, they still have work do to if they are to book their spot in the Division One final with Simon Bradley’s charges needing a result at home to Erne Gaels or hope that Kinawley don’t beat Derrylin.

A well contested first half saw the visitors go in at the break with a one-point advantage, 2-05 to 1-07, and they were able to pull away in the second period although they were indebted to goalkeeper Cian Newman who pulled off three fine saves as they clinched the win.

On a very warm evening it was Enniskillen who started the brighter with John Reihill opening the scoring from a mark while Conor McShea quickly followed up with a point from play.

Roslea rattled over their first score in the fourth minute when Niall Beggan fired over but Enniskillen responded with the opening goal of the contest as Paddy Cassidy and Reihill combined for Conall Quinn to palm home from close range to make it 1-02 to 0-01.

However, it was the home side who enjoyed the better of the exchanges over the next ten minutes as they outscored the Gaels 1-04 to 0-01 to push into a two point lead.

Beggan slotted over the next two scores while Seamie Quigley converted a free.

Richie O’Callaghan did answer with a point for Enniskillen but Roslea then swooped for a goal as Seamie Quigley got to a long diagonal ball from Conor Quigley ahead of Enniskillen keeper Newman to palm to the net.

And when Quigley followed up with a point from a free it left Roslea ahead 1-05 to 1-03 at the water-break.

Enniskillen had a goal chance on the resumption but Brandon Horan was denied by Daniel Mohan in the Shamrocks goal but they did have their second goal of the night soon after as McShea drilled home a low effort.

And with Josh Horan and McShea also tagging on points it put the away side into a 2-05 to 1-05 lead as the opening half drew to a close.

But a point from a free by Seamie Quigley and a superb score from a sideline ball on the right by Sean Quigley left the minimum dividing the sides at the break.

Roslea had an opportunity to get their noses back in front inside the opening minute of the second half but Seamie Quigley saw his effort saved by Newman and moments later Enniskillen had the ball in the net at the other end of the pitch.

A strong break by O’Callaghan took him in on goal and the ball was fed across to Reihill who palmed to the empty net.

When Ethan Beresford and Josh Horan knocked over further points it pushed the Enniskillen lead out to seven points and although Seamie Quigley clipped over a free, further scores for the away side from Quinn and a Reihill free made it 3-09 to 1-08 as the contest headed into the final quarter.

Roslea were given hope though when Beggan brought his tally to 1-03 when he latched on to a loose ball from a 45 that had dropped short to fire home, and the gap could have been further reduced shortly after when Conor Quigley raced in from the right but he too was denied by Newman.

Enniskillen though regained the upperhand as the game reached a conclusion.

McShea, Reihill and Matthew Dixon all landed late points for the away side to leave it 3-12 to 1-08 at the finish.

Next up for Enniskillen is that home game against Erne Gaels while bottom of the table Roslea host Derrygonnelly in a game they must get something out of if they are to have any chance of escaping the drop on the final day.
