NFC Kesh 13 Mountfield 0

NFC Kesh secured their first win of the season as new player-Manager Ryan Campbell got his reign underway with a thumping 13-0 win over a struggling Mountfield side at Connolly Park on Saturday.

Danny Wilson and Lee Walker both bagged hat-tricks; there was a brace apiece for Campbell and Dylan Aiken while Grant Ellis, Jack Beatty and Nathan Cashel also got on the scoresheet as Kesh got their season up and running.

Campbell, who was appointed as Scott Robinson’s successor last week, was delighted with the performance from his side.

“It was nice to get off to a good start and we played some good football,” said Campbell. “Mountfield kept trying and trying, but it is not easy for them at the minute.”

And for Campbell, enjoyment is the key word in these early stages of his managerial career.

“I want us to put less pressure on ourselves and I told the players that we will take it one game at a time and try to enjoy it and the results will look after themselves.”

He knows though that tougher tests lie ahead, starting this weekend away to Derrychara.

“It will be a good test for us and it will let us know better where we are,” he added.

Pressure

Kesh applied pressure right from the first whistle and after a couple of early half chances they took the lead with seven minutes gone as player-manager Campbell tucked home the opener after good play down the right hand side by the home side.

It was all one-way traffic and Kesh soon doubled their advantage as Aiken netted his first of the day following good work by Josh Flack.

Campbell made it 3-0 when he converted from the spot after Flack was fouled in the 25th minute, and a Walker chip had the home side four goals to the good by the 31st minute.

Two minutes later Walker punished a defensive error and he then completed his hat-trick with a well-struck free kick from the edge of the box to leave it 6-0 at the break.

Kesh picked up where they left off at the start of the second half with Wilson slotting home inside a minute of the restart and Grant Ellis made it 8-0 in the 55th minute.

Walker tuned provider when he teed up Wilson shortly after and Aiken produced a composed finish for number ten, following a Mountfield mix-up in the middle of the park.

Kesh were relentless through to the finish and substitute Jack Beatty grabbed their 11th before Wilson tucked away from the spot to complete his hat-trick.

The experienced Cashel rounded off the scoring from a Walker cross to wrap up a good day for the North Fermanagh outfit.
