Lisnaskea 1-12 Belcoo 1-11

A Sharon Murphy point with what was to be the last kick of the game sealed a dramatic Junior Championship title for Lisnaskea.

Trailing by a point heading into injury time following a brilliant comeback from Belcoo, Skea were able to call on two of the most experienced ladies footballers in the county to get them over the line.

Caroline Kerins and Murphy registered all of Skea’s scores in the second period to lead their side to the title.

Skea led by two points at the break and this was pushed out to six points with 50 minutes played before Belcoo turned it around to lead by one.

But Kerins and Murphy popped up with the final two scores of the game.

Molly O’Donnell opened the scoring for Skea before Claire Teague made it 0-02 to no score.

An Elaine Maguire free but Skea would make it a four point game when Keeva Lynch gathered a high ball and fired to the net, 1-02 to 0-01.

A Teague free increased the Skea lead before Maguire hit her’s and Belcoo’s second point of the game from a free.

Michelle Cullen then hit Belcoo’s first from play after 20 minutes followed by a good Maguire score to close the gap to two points.

Cliodhan McElroy ended the drought for Skea with a point before O’Donnell made it 1-05 to 0-04.

Two more Cullen scores would wrap up the scoring for the first half as it ended 1-05 to 0-06.

Kerins got her first score of the day, winning a high ball and turning before firing over and she was on target with a free shortly after to make it 1-07 to 0-06.

Two more points from Kerins including a well struck free from the left made it 1-09 to 0-06.

Maguire popped over a free followed by a Collette Rice score from play for Belcoo.

However, a fifth Kerins point would then make it 1-10 to 0-08.

Two Maguire frees would leave a goal between the sides as Belcoo were beginning to dominate.

It was then all level as Belcoo turned over a Skea clearance and Maguire drove forward before firing to the net to set up a tense finish.

And When Seana Feeley was fouled and Maguire hit her seventh point of the day from the free it looked like Belcoo had pulled off an incredible comeback.

But there was still time for Skea to snatch victory.

First up Kerins was fouled in front of the goals and she got up to convert the free.

From Belcoo’s kickout, Skea pushed up and won possession and a free out near the left sideline.

The ball found its way to Murphy who did well to evade the challenges of a number of Belcoo players.

And with the last kick of the game, Murphy, under pressure, managed to curl on just inside the post to seal a dramatic win, 1-12 to 1-11.
