Enniskillen Town 1 Dergview 1

Enniskillen Town had to settle for a shareof the spoils from their meeting with Dergview Reserves at St. Michael’s Pavillion on Saturday.

Town had taken the lead through Johnny Hoy after ten minutes but Joseph Breslin levelled for the visitors to leave it 1-1 at the break.

And with neither side able to find a winner, that’s the way it finished as the sides had to be content with a point apiece from the game.

Town joint manager James McKenna would have taken a point prior to the game as he had a number of players unavailable for the clash but in the end he was disappointed not to have taken all three.

“If we had been offered a point beforehand we would have taken it as we were understrength and we had a few boys that had to play through injury.

“The way the game panned out though we were disappointed not to have taken three points out of it.

“We would have mixed emotions about the result but all things considered we will take the point and move on because it is a point against a good side,” he said.

Town had though started on the front foot and with ten minutes on the clock they took the lead.

Frank Wallace chased down a ball over the top, forcing a mix up between the Dergview goalkeeper Oisin Gibson and one of his centre halves and the ball broke into the path of Hoy who slotted home.

It was all Town at this stage and Wallace drew a good save out of Gibson while Hoy fired wide when well placed.

However, as the half progressed Dergview started to get a foothold in the game and an equaliser arrived before the break.

Ivan Sproule’s pass cut open the Tpwn defence for Breslin to run on to and he finished well through the legs of Town goalkeeper Pat Cadden to leave it 1-1 at the interval.

The home side regrouped at the break and they started the second half as they had the first.

Hoy had a good chance to put Town back in front when he was put through one on one but his effort hit goalkeeper Gibson while substitute Mark Little then got down the right and fed the ball into Brendan Lilley but the Dergview custodian again did well.

At the other end, Dergview were a threat from set pieces but they never really opened up the home side’s defence as the game finished 1-1.

Next up for Town is a derby encounter against Enniskillen Athletic this Saturday at the Lakeland Forum.

“We hope to maybe have one or two back but we are going to be short again.

“It is what it is though and it is a chance for others to stake a claim.

“Duwayne Beacom came in last week and did well on Saturday and Conor Tummon is back in set up,” said McKenna.
