Mountjoy United 0 Enniskillen Rangers 6

Mark Cutler bagged four goals as Enniskillen Rangers continued their run of good form with a comfortable 6-0 win over Mountjoy United on Saturday.

After a slow start to the campaign, the ‘Gers have found their form and are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions.

Saturday’s win lifted Michael Kerr’s side up to third in the table although they trail leaders Enniskillen Town by ten points.

Kerr was pleased with how his side went about their business against Mountjoy having set them a number of goals before the game.

“We said to the players that we wanted to score in each half and we scored three goals in each and we also wanted to keep a clean-sheet which we also managed to so we were happy with that.

“You can only beat what is in front of you and we did that,” he said.

The league will be put on the back burner this week as Rangers are in Junior Cup action.

Kerr’s side will make the short journey to Fintona to take on their Division Two opponents and will be strong favourites to progress, but Kerr is taking nothing for granted.

“Fintona have been on a good run lately and we know that it is going to be a tricky tie so we will give them the exact same respect that we would give Enniskillen Town, Tummery or anybody else.

“Hopefully, if we go out with the right attitude and produce a performance then we can win the game,” said Kerr.

Rangers were quickly into their stride on Saturday and with ten minutes on the clock they took the lead. Nathan Khan’s corner was punched out to the edge of the box by goalkeeper Gareth Barbour where it was controlled by Jason Keenan who finished with aplomb to the corner.

And the ‘Gers doubled their advantage one minute later as another Khan corner was headed home at the near post by Eoin McManus.

Cutler then grabbed his first of the game as Joel Byrne’s ball was slotted home by the attacker to make it 3-0 at the interval.

Rangers extended their lead 20 minutes into the second half with Khan again involved as his through ball found it’s way to Cutler who finished for 4-0.

Cutler then completed his hat-trick as he headed home from close range from a Stuart Rainey cross from the left and he bagged his fourth and Rangers sixth late on, tucking the ball home after good work by Rainey and Jamie Robinson.
