Fermanagh Chairman, Brian Armitage, has confirmed that the county’s opening NFL Division Three game against Longford will not be played at Brewster Park with the Enniskillen ground currently unavailable due to necessary remedial work on the pitch.

The game was originally fixed for Saturday January 28 at 6pm at Brewster Park but Armitage says that Fermanagh have requested a change of time, venue and day for the game to be played.

It is unknown though whether Croke Park will permit the switch of date for the game at this late stage.

“Brewster Park is unavailable, it required necessary remedial work which has been carried out and we have sent a request to Croke Park for a change of venue and for the game to be played on the Sunday.

“Obviously, it can not go ahead at 6pm as there is no other venue in the county with the appropriate floodlight facilities,” said Armitage.

“All we can do is suggest a venue and then it is up to Croke Park to carry out a risk assessment with regards access and capacity and then they will make a decision. We are expecting a decision on it by the end of the week.”

It is understood that Roslea, Ederney and Tempo have all shown an interest in hosting the game.
