Splitz Gymnastics Club hosted more than 220 gymnasts from across the island of Ireland in the Lakeland Forum for their Valentine’s competition. In total, seven acrobatic gymnastics clubs participated, including three clubs from the Republic – Killeevan Gymnastics Club, Pyramid Gymnastics and Clondalkin.
Each partnership performed a two-minute routine to music combining standardised balances and dynamic moves interspersed with elements of dance.
The club were grateful to have received partial funding towards the running of this event from the Health & Social Care Take 5 project.
This helped to make the day a resounding success for all concerned.
Results
The results for the Splitz gymnasts are as follows.
Grade 1 Women’s pair: Ella-Rose Carron & Kaya Kremska, 2nd.
Grade 2 Women’s pair: Emily Jordan & Sofia Allen, 2nd.
Grade 2 Women’s group: Sophie McGrath, Lucy Rice & Lexi McElwaine, 1st.
Grade 3 Women’s pair: Niamh Breen & Zara Fisher, 3rd.
Grade 3 Women’s group: Charlotte Farrell, Poppie Beddard & Caoimhe O’Reilly, 4th; Flavia Remedios, Emma McElwaine & Aine Rice, 5th.
Grade 4 Men’s pair: Lorcan McManus & Dale Fisher, 1st.
Grade 4 Women’s pair: Laoise Fogarty & Alicia McElwaine, 3rd.
Grade 4 Women’s group: Eva-Rose McCluskey, Jessica Hanna & Aoife McGuigan, 2nd.
Youth Women’s pair: Emily Hanna & Phoebe Rutledge, 3rd.
Youth Women’s group: Mena O’Reilly, Naoise Kerrin & Maeve Duffy, 3rd.
Each club had a partnership awarded the overall highest score trophy, and the worthy recipients for Splitz were gymnasts Mena O’Reilly, Naoise Kerrin and Maeve Duffy, with their well-executed Youth routine.
Splitz members wish to recognise the contribution from all the volunteer parents who helped make this competition such a success.
In addition, the coaches need a special mention, without whom Splitz would simply cease to function.
Splitz looks forward now to exciting times ahead as their squad partnerships enter the Northern Ireland Section of the British Acro Qualifiers in early March.
