ENNISKILLEN Running Club’s Annabel Morrison received the Athletics Ireland County award for 2022 for Fermanagh.

The award is in recognition of some fine performances during the year including her U17 Clubs win and Tailteann Games success.

Each county is awarded one star from Athletic Ireland.

Annabel, who is coached by Eamonn Monaghan, enjoyed a great 2022 where she picked up gold in the 3000m at the Tailtean Games.

Annabel then competed at the SIAB’s where she took bronze after a thrilling race.

The success for the Enniskillen athlete continued at the Ulster Club’s where she secured gold in both the 3000m and the 1500m and she followed that up at the All Ireland Clubs with another 3000m gold as well as silver in the 1500m.

Annabel also represented Ireland during 2022 when she raced in the 3000m in Bedford and is a deserving recipient of the award.

Meanwhile, ERGS student Annabel and Charlie Reihill of St Michael’s will compete for the Irish Schools’ IU17 Intermediate team at the SIAB Cross Country International at Sefton Park, Liverpool this Saturday.

Their selection comes on the back of great runs in the recent All Ireland Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

Charlie will compete in the U17 Boys 6K while Annabel has been selected for the U17 Girls relay.

St Michael’s Sean Corry had also earned selection but unfortunately is unavailable.
