Frank Buchanan and Annabel Morrison were among the big local performers at the E District (Intermediate and Senior) Championships in Clones on Tuesday with a number of medals returning to Fermanagh.

St Michael’s Frank Buchanan was in fine form as he did the Intermediate Boys 3000m and 800m double. Buchanan came home in front of team mate Charlie Reihill in the 3000m while he ran 1.57mins en route to victory in the 800m.

There was further success for St Michael’s in the Intermediate Boys 1500m as Sean Corry claimed the gold ahead of St Mary’s Irvinestown’s Jamie McDonnell while St Michael’s also clinched gold in the Intermediate relay.

Annabel Morrison of Enniskillen Royal was another to impress as she landed the Intermediate Girls 1500m title in a terrific time of 4.41mins while Adam Cathcart, also of ERGS, took gold in the Intermediate Boys 200m.

And there was a Fermanagh 1-2 in the Intermediate Boys 100m with Conor Casey of St Kevin’s Lisnaskea taking gold and St Michael’s James Kelly silver while Kelly went one better in the Long Jump as he claimed gold.

Oliver Polaik secured gold for Devenish College in the Intermediate Boys Shot Putt.

In the Girls Junior 300m, Kellie McAnespy took gold for Mount Lourdes.

In the Senior Boys, St Michael’s Aaron Ansfield sealed gold in the 800m while Enniskillen Royal’s Patrick Williams secured gold with Jamie Devine (St Michael’s) taking silver in the Senior Boys 3000m.

There was joy for Darragh Love of ERGS who took gold in the Senior Boys 400m while ERGS also claimed the Senior Boys 4X100m and 4x400m relays.
