A team of 54 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers triumphed over opponents Newry & Mourne Swimming Club at the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen in the fourth round of this season’s Aquasprint League on Saturday May 27.

The competition is a starting point for the younger swimmers to gain experience racing in all four strokes in individual and relay events over 25m and began with the Medley Relays.

Lakelanders began with a Group A win by Clara Leonard, Niamh Howell, James Mc Sorley and Michael Carron. Group B followed suit with another win for Crea Mullin, Emmett Coyle, Sophie Hanna and Daire Burke. Group C also hit the top spot for Martha McCreesh, Emma Speer, Mirko Mann and Darragh Collins. Lakelanders Group D of Erin Salcedo, Ryan Mongan, Ava Neal and Enda Burke claimed the win to leave the Enniskillen side with the upperhand moving into the individual events.

The Backstroke races produced first places for Clara Leonard, Michael Carron, Crea Mullen, Martha McCreesh, Ava Neal and Enda Burke. Second places were won by Sophie Hanna, Maeve Rolston-McAuliffe, Darragh Collins, Erin Salcedo and Russell Mikievicz Lumayad whilst further team points were picked up by Niamh Howell, Mollie Kate Brewster, Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, James McSorley, Keira Salcedo, Emmett Coyle, Daire Burke, Charles Armstrong, Myleene Leonard, Anton Neal, Mirko Mann, Tori Reid and Ryan Mongan.

Breaststroke round saw more great swimming by the Lakelanders with first positions for Clara Leonard, Michael Carron, Keira Salcedo, Emmett Coyle, Jessica Miller, Darragh Collins, Ava Neal and Enda Burke, and second places for Niamh Howell, James McSorley, Sophie Hanna, Martha McCreesh, Mirko Mann, Erin Salcedo and Ryan Mongan. Valuable points for the club total were also picked up by Mollie Kate Brewster, Kealan Rice, Ella Neal, Daire Burke, Charles Armstrong, Emma Speer, Anton Neal, Katie James and Russell Mikievicz Lumayad. After this round the Lakelanders had stretched their lead further and the score was 131 to 69.

Great performances in the Butterfly events saw three first spots and six second places, ensuring the Lakelanders held their lead heading into the Freestyle round. Maeve Rolston-McAuliffe, Ava Neal and Enda Burke led the way in their races along with seconds for Michael Carron, Keira Salcedo, Martha McCreesh, Darragh Collins, Erin Salcedo and Russell Mikievicz Lumayad. Clara Leonard, Niamh Howell, Mollie Kate Brewster, James McSorley, Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, Sophie Hanna, Katie McGowan, Charles Armstrong, Daire Burke, Emmett Coyle, Myleene Leonard, Mirko Mann, Finlay Walker, Tori Reid and Ryan Mongan also racked up the points on the board.

The last individual event was the Front Crawl where the Lakelanders saw first spots from Clara Leonard, Crea Mullen, Martha McCreesh, Darragh Collins, Ava Neal and Enda Burke. Valuable second places were won by James McSorley, Keira Salcedo and Myleene Leonard. Again further point scoring by Niamh Howell, Mollie Kate Brewster, Michael Carron, Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad, Sophie Hanna, Charles Armstrong, Daire Burke, Emmett Coyle, Emma Speer, Mirko Mann, Sam Curran, Erin Salcedo, Holly McCabe, Ryan Mongan and Caelan Moore.

In an exciting final event the Enniskillen swimmers won all four Freestyle relays.

The MVS (Most Valuable Swimmer) awards for the Lakelanders went to Ava Neal and Enda Burke who both won four first places each and were both on winning relay teams in both relay events.

A special mention also for valuable point scoring in relays by Tiana Mbeulani, Clara Curran, Conor Collins, Maria Clifford, Mavis Mann, Maddie Maguire, Joseph McKenna, Evie Dundas, Rebecca Curran, Madeline Curran, Shannon Brennan, Holly Barkley, Olivia McCaffrey, Anna May Hill, Luna Murphy, Josh Cassidy, Myah Greene, Ava Nugent, Maia Rolston-McAuliffe and Alfie Miller.

The final result was announced as Enniskillen Lakelanders 255 and Newry 145.

The young Lakelanders will now set their sights on the Aquasprint Finals in Omagh on June 9.
