In the semi final, Corrigan and Timoney started slowly but by the 500m mark they were sitting in second place.
World champions Romania took control of the race and powered their way to the win with the Irish crew putting in a strong finish as they held off South Africa for second spot with world silver medallists Spain missing out on a final spot as they came fourth.
