The recent Lakeland Stages Rally proved a big success with 72 cars starting the event which took place over six stages at Belmore, Ballintempo and Carrigan.

Omagh’s Patrick O’Brien came away with the overall victory with Dromore’s Cathan McCourt in second place while a fine performance by Jonny Leonard from Enniskillen in his Ford Fiesta saw him round off the podium places with a third spot finish.

There was also plenty of local interest in the Class sections.

Enniskillen’s Jody McManus secured victory in Class 8 with Ballinamallard’s Marc Johnston as co driver in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI, just ahead of Enniskillen duo Dominic Leonard and Martin Baxter.

In Class 6, Dromore’s Hugh McQuaid clinched the win while Belleek’s Damien McGauran and co driver Shane Maguire finished in third place in a BMW 320.

Tony McKenna from Fintona took second place in the Class 5 in a Ford Escort Mark 2 while in Class 3 there was a third for Enniskillen’s Sammy Scollan.

Clerk of the Course, Drew Wilson, commented: “It was an excellent rally, everything ran 100 percent on time and the stages were brilliant.

“We would like to thank our main sponsor, Trailer Parts & Spares.com as well as FODC.

“And of course thanks to the marshals and all the officials who play an important role," he said.
