Enniskillen 0 PSNI 2
Saturday September 16 saw Enniskillen Ladies hockey make a comeback after three years.
The team welcomed new faces as well as those who had to dust off their sticks.
This week’s match was at Home against PSNI and the 0-2 scoreline did not reflect the effort and the determination of the team.
The first 15 minutes of the match showed the newly formed Enniskillen team finding their footing as a team, with a mostly defensive first quarter with goalkeeper Glenda Johnston showcasing her talent and skill by fighting off the PSNI attacks.
Fresh legs
Fresh legs for the second quarter showed more play in the PSNI half but unfortunately a goal was conceded through open play.
PSNI scored another goal in the third quarter but Enniskillen did not let this deter them and the final 15 minutes of the match had them fighting to keep the score line.
PSNI were awarded two penalty corners during the match but the Enniskillen defence dominated these and intercepted the ball.
Every player was fantastic and it was great to see so many supporters standing on the side lines.
Debuts
The home side were delighted to have six young school girls make their debut in Senior hockey; Ruby Cobain, Lucy Pattison, Marianna Bell, Ella McFarland, Sarah Armstrong and Abigail Bateman-Smith.
The players voted Ella McFarland as their player of the match.
Ella made her debut in Senior hockey on Saturday but this did not show through her determination and communication on the pitch at centre forward.
