Enniskillen Galaxy 4 Lisnarick 2

Enniskillen Galaxy picked up a 4-2 win at home to Lisnarick on Saturday to move up to fourth spot in Division Three.

Two early goals were followed by second-half strikes from Gavin McGinn and Christopher Corrigan to take all three points at the Lakeland Forum.

Galaxy manager Daniel McIntyre was pleased to see his side bounce back after last weekend’s draw to Newtownstewart United.

“The challenge for the lads after the draw with Newtownstewart was to win our remaining games before Christmas just to finish the year out strong and still stay in the hunt (for promotion),” said the Galaxy manager.

“The lads took that onboard despite letting Lisnarick back into the game, I think we recovered very well and our second-half performance alone I think we deserved the three points.

“We now go into our last game before Christmas with a local derby against Enniskillen Rovers and we’re just hoping for the same; a good strong performance and ending the year in the hunt for promotion,” said McIntyre.

Galaxy made the ideal start with a goal in the opening minute of the match as Louis Lakes picked up the ball and went on a mazy run from the kick-off beating a handful of defenders before finding the net with a neat finish for 1-0.

Only five minutes had passed when Galaxy found a second goal to double their advantage.

A well-worked team move saw Robbie Regan feed Lakes, who in turn, played in Haydn Love to slot the ball home.

After such a dismal start Lisnarick eventually found their footing with Galaxy losing a couple of players through injury as Lakes and Eamon McHugh were withdrawn.

Andrew Browne cut the deficit with a tidy finish in the 24th minute with the equaliser coming from Seamus Ryder six minutes before the half time whistle as the sides went into the break at 2-2.

Galaxy made another bright start to the half as Regan went close to adding a third when his free-kick came off the crossbar.

Barry McIntyre also hit the bar and McGinn saw his shot cleared off the line in quick succession.

McGinn then got the third as he found space just outside the box and drilled the ball low to the net as Lisnarick’s goalkeeper had no time to react.

With Galaxy in control, they found a fourth to seal it as Corrigan picked up the ball in defence and travelled before playing a sharp one-two with Love and he picked his spot to make it 4-2.
