Casey Howe has been named in Northern Ireland’s Women’s squad for Euro Qualifiers against Malta and Bosnia and Herzegovina this month.

Howe signed for Athlone Town in January joining from Sligo Rovers and played a vital role in Athlone’s win over her former side Glentoran in the Women’s All-Island Cup at the end of last month.

The Maguiresbridge native netted an early opener when she took the ball down on the edge of the box from a wide pass and looked up before rifling a shot into the roof of the net.

Kerrie Beattie and Nadene Caldwell gave Glentoran a halftime lead until Athlone drew themselves level shortly after the interval with a Kerry Brown strike.

Howe put her side in front when she was taken down on the edge of the box and stepped up to drill the free-kick low into the bottom right corner of the goal around the Glentoran wall.
