Splitz Gymnastics club were delighted when five members of its elite squad trialled for the Caledonia Cup and successfully made the Northern Ireland team for this event.

Mena O’Reilly, Riona Dooris and Sarah Rutledge were selected to compete in the IDP grade.

Emily Hanna and Maeve Duffy were selected for the youth women’s pair category with their Head Coach, Jennifer Hanna, being named as one of the two coaches for the team.

This would be the girls' first international competition representing the country which was held in Motherwell, Scotland.

At the event teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland battled it out on day one for the team trophy.

On day two, up to three partnerships per grade, per country, competed in the individual finals.

The girls from Fermanagh did not disappoint, producing clean routines on both days and placing an incredible 5th place in their categories on finals day.

Head Coach Jennifer said: "What an amazing experience for the girls the Caledonia Ccup proved to be.

"Travelling as part of a team of 21 gymnasts to their first international acrobatic event and producing top-five finishes on finals day was a fantastic achievement.

"As a club, we couldn’t be more proud of the gymnasts."
