A RETIRED doctor has spoken of his attempt to resuscitate tragic Valeria Amorim.

Dr. Tom Kiernan said he happened to be out walking in the vicinity of Daly Park, Belleek, on Monday evening when he came across the horrific scene.

"I was walking home, and I heard screaming from where Fr. Beggan lives," he explained.

"I didn't know what it was, initially. I didn't hear any kind of bang. However, it was clear that there was a person who was in distress.

"The Fire Brigade were on the scene; they were giving a woman chest compressions, and had her attached to a defib monitor.

"I continued with the chest compressions to ascertain what kind of injuries we were dealing with.

"It was obvious that she had severe head trauma. Sadly, after a few minutes, I decided that life was extinct."

Dr. Kiernan continued: "This has come as a huge shock to everyone. It's especially sad as the woman was so young, and an expectant mum."

Meanwhile, a shocked eyewitness has spoken of how they were coming back from doing an errand in the village when they came on the horrific scene.

They said: “It was terrible. She was a Brazilian lady living locally, and I saw her lying on the pavement.

“A person was giving her CPR, and I gave her CPR as well, but it was too late. I felt for a pulse but there was none; sadly she had passed away.

“Her mother and daughter were in hysterics.

“It is such a terrible tragedy, and she was a lovely woman living in Belleek, and comes from a hard- working family, and they are all just in bits," they added.
